Joe Gribben has been involved in dog training for over fifteen years. Joe attended the West Virginia Canine College where he learned various techniques for training dogs in obedience, personal protection and narcotics detection. Joe has furthered his dog training career by studying under and working with the top trainers in the country and abroad. He is a former law enforcement and canine officer, working in Virginia for over eight years before returning home to West Virginia.
Joe has accomplished all aspects of training, by building a positive working relationship with his dogs. He has worked with a number of breeds, both large and small, in puppy development, obedience training, personal protection, narcotics and explosive detection and is an accomplished trainer, handler and decoy in the sport of Schutzhund.
Joe handled and showed all of his police canine partners, Damon, Xitah Van Tiekerhook and Mitzy Van Tiekerhook on the street and in the competition of Schutzhund. Mitzy was an accomplished competitor and was awarded the top female German Shepherd Dog award at the American Working Dog Federation championships in 2001.
Joe also handled and competed with Joschy Van Tiekerhook, a serious male bred by Koos Hassing in the Netherlands. Joe and Joschy trained and titled to a multiple times Schutzhund III level. They also placed 9th in the 2005 Northeastern Regional Competition. Joschy has returned home to live with his owners and Joe has started training with his new best buddy Achiro Vepeden (Jero).
Jero was imported from Czechoslovakia, handpicked for Joe by Frans Slaman. A beautiful dark sable he shows tremendous potential even at his young age.
Joe is the owner and operations manager of Creekside Kennels, a boarding and training center located in the Winfield Community, just minutes from Fairmont, West Virginia. He is currently offering private and group training lessons in puppy development, obedience, protection and behavior modification. A long time and accomplished competitor and helper, Joe is also offering Schutzhund lessons for those interested in the sport.

As some of you know, for the past few months we have been in the final stages of adopting our second daughter and Kate’s little sister from China. Our trip to finalize the adoption has been scheduled for September 7-24, 2008. Creekside Kennels will remain operational during our travels, staffed with loyal employees, great friends and family. We are confident that the level of service you receive will not be compromised in our absence.
We should note that we may need to limit the number of boarders we schedule during this time, so please be sure to call ahead if you need to board your pet on these dates. Drop off and departure times may also be scheduled for established hours while we are away.
